Lennox’s Ashlee Sweeter competes at State

Ashlee Sweeter prepares to tee-off during State A golf action. Sweeter finished 34th out of over 80 top golfers in the State.


After qualifying at Regions at the end of May, Lennox High School’s Ashlee Sweeter competed in the 2022 State A Girls’ Golf Tournament held at Bakker Crossing on Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7.


This marked Sweeter’s first appearance at the State Tournament and she competed strong against the top golfers in the state.


Sweeter shot a 95 on Monday, and a 97 on Tuesday, giving her a two day total of 192 to finish 34th out of over 80 golfers.


“She did a great job representing Lennox,” said LHS head girls’ golf coach Angela Zirpel. “I look forward to seeing what she can accomplish in the next few years.”


During competition on June 6, Sweeter shot a 45 on the front nine and a 52 on the back. She hit par on five holes. During play on June 7, Sweeter shot a 49 on the front nine and a 46 on the back, hitting par on four holes.


Winning the 2022 State A individual title was Olivia Sorlie from Canton. She shot a 75 on day one and an 80 on day two for a two day total of 155. The team title went to Sioux Falls Christian.
