Typically at this point in the summer people have already heard the first performance of the Lennox Municipal Band. This hasn’t been your typical summer however; due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, many events were postponed or canceled.
The Lennox Municipal Band board decided just last week to begin their summer concert series beginning on June 25 in Lennox’s Westerman Park at the Jacobs Memorial Bandshell.
Thanks to the dedication of local and area musicians, the Lennox Municipal Band continues its tradition as the longest playing municipal band in the state of South Dakota. Directing the band for the past 21 years has been Byron Youngquist, who again will be wielding the conductor’s baton.
Thursday’s concert will begin at 8 p.m. The Lennox Municipal Band will also be playing in the Lennox Old Fashioned Fourth of July parade and prior to the annual fireworks show on July 4. Watch this newspaper for details on future band performances.
