The Speech Communication Association of South Dakota (SCASD) held their State Conference this past Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27.
The Lennox Independent was selected to receive the 2023 Community Service award. The Community Service Award is offered yearly by the Speech Communication Association of South Dakota. This award is given to someone outside of the forensics community who has contributed in an outstanding way to forensics.
The committee selected The Lennox Independent after Michael Larson, head Lennox High School Speech and Debate Coach, nominated them for the award.
“I nominated The Lennox Independent because of all the support the paper has given our speech groups at Lennox and in general for all the support and reporting they do for the community,” said Larson.
The award was presented at the SCASD banquet on Wednesday, July 26. Anne Homan, General Manager, is pictured above with Larson, accepting the award on behalf of The Lennox Independent.
