This year’s Homecoming theme is “Once upon an Oriole Homecoming” featuring a week full of school spirit, fun activities and Disney-themed dress-up days.

Homecoming festivities kickoff on Monday, Sept. 15 with Coronation taking place at Lennox High School at 8 p.m. One of the highlights of that event is the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and Marshall.

This year’s royalty court is pictured above and includes, from left to right, (back row): Riley Nelson, Cloy McVey, Tate Gerdes, Mason Reischl, and Talen Eich; (front row): Alia Temme, Macy Wallenstein, Mackenzie Gilland, Josephine Plucker, and Andie Peters.

Immediately following Coronation there will be the “Burning of the L” at the back of the high school parking lot, to the west of the tennis courts.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16 events continue with the Varsity boys’ golf team taking on Vermillion at the Lenkota Country Club at 2 p.m. The Oriole volleyball team will travel to Elk Point for a 7 p.m. match.

On Thursday, Sept. 18 the boys’ golf team will be at the Pointe in Elk Point for an 8:30 a.m. tournament.

On Friday, Sept. 19 a Pep Rally will be held at the high school at 11:30 a.m.

The Lennox Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Parade line-up will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Park Drive.

The parade route will go north on Main to First Ave, East on First Ave to Cherry, South on Cherry to Sixth Ave, and East on Sixth Ave. Elementary students will go West on Sixth to return to the school for pick-up.

Following Friday afternoon’s parade the Tailgating will begin with a fundraising meal by the LHS band. They will be serving pork sandwiches. The Oriole football game against West Central will kick-off at 7 p.m. that evening. The Oriole pride marching band will perform at halftime.

Following the football game high school students can enjoy “5th Quarter” at the field, featuring pizza, snacks, games and prizes.

There will be dress-up days throughout the week as well. Disney-themed dress up days include: Monday (Sept. 15): Magical Kingdom (Disney tourist); Tuesday (Sept. 16): You’ve got a friend in me (Disney duos or groups); Wednesday (Sept. 17): Capes vs Crowns (Disney super hero’s vs princesses); Thursday (Sept. 18): Throwback Thursday (Nostalgic Disney channel characters); Friday (Sept. 19): Tangled in Oriole Spirit (Spirit day)
