Lennox Cross Country competes at Nike Heartland Preview

The Lennox High School cross country team competed at the Nike Heartland Preview on Saturday, Sept. 12, with several Orioles recording personal- or season-best times.

In the boys championship 5,000-meter race, sophomore Landon Strasser led Lennox with a personal-best time of 16:51.1, placing 37th. Junior Isaak Booker followed in 48th with a season-best 17:09.9. Junior Leo Aesoph finished 100th in 18:02.6, also recording a season best. Junior Jackson Schmidt placed 146th with a season-best time of 18:36.9.

Senior Isaiah Sayler crossed the finish line in 19:43.8, good for 199th place and a personal best. Senior Cade Aasheim finished 234th in 20:25.6, while sophomore Charley Bittner placed 237th in 20:34.6. Both recorded season-best times.

Lennox also had two runners compete in the boys open 4,000-meter race. Sophomore Lance Aasheim finished 92nd in 16:57.8, while eighth-grader Gage Ebbesen placed 105th with a personal-best time of 17:15.8.

In the girls championship 5,000-meter race, sophomore Adie McVey paced the Orioles with a 36th-place finish in 19:56.0. Sophomore Kamille Schmidt followed in 42nd with a personal-best time of 20:15.2. Sophomore Lucy Carlson also posted a personal best, finishing 68th in 20:43.9. Freshman Sophia Johnson rounded out Lennox’s championship entries, placing 92nd in 21:16.5.

Three Lennox runners competed in the girls open 4,000-meter race. Seventh-grader Chloe Aesoph finished 34th in 17:53.3, while freshman Sophie Wood placed 93rd in 20:01.6. Freshman Lily Kuiken finished 132nd with a season-best time of 22:33.0.

In the middle school boys 3,000-meter race, seventh-grader Sam Bostwick finished 155th in 14:15.1. Seventh-grader Liliana Sanchez represented Lennox in the girls middle school 3,000-meter race, recording a personal-best time of 15:16.2 to place 145th.

The Orioles will compete at Sioux Center on Sept. 24 and will be at home on Friday, Oct. 2 for a 10 a.m. race.
