Sunshine Foods and Lennox Lions Club will host a community blood drive Monday, December 4 between 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Donors can schedule their donation by logging onto www.cbblifeblood, selecting “events”, and December 4 or call 605-331-3222. All those donating blood will receive a $10 Subway gift card as a thank you gift.
“Blood is a precious gift to patients requiring a blood transfusion. With just one donation a volunteer blood donor will provide life for up to 3 community patients,” states Lauri Hoffmann, Program Coordinator, Community Blood Bank. “When a person decides to roll up their sleeve and donate, it only takes 30 minutes for the act but the gift can last a life time. With fall and winter weather setting in, we see an increase in blood usage due to people completing elective surgeries before the end of the year. We also see more accidents on the roadways because of the movement of deer and other field animals. It is important to be ready for traumas coming through emergency departments in our area. Blood is one of the foundations for medical preparedness. Join in to provide hope to your neighbors, friends, and family. Donate blood with Community Blood Bank Monday, December 4.”
Community Blood Banks is a nonprofit, cooperative of Sanford Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital. Community Blood Bank is not associated with any other blood bank organization and is the sole blood provider to all Sioux Falls hospitals, and 35 other local area hospitals. Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health the day of the donation.
