Lennox Celebrates 4th of July

Lennox’s renowned annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July event lived up to its reputation this year. The festivities kicked off Wednesday night with a cruise night on Main Street, where classic cars paraded through town. That evening also featured the crowning of the Little Miss Pageant contestants. The night wrapped up with the Lennox Commercial Club Street Dance, headlined by Weston Frank. Despite rain towards the end, the band continued to play and later shared their experience on Facebook:

“I returned to the stage to start the second set with just Carson and me, joined by special guest Jayden Fisher of JAIK, when the rain started to come. Everything I’ve learned over the years and experienced told me, time to pull the plug. Something in my soul said KEEP GOING… the next few songs were just me and my guitar… eventually it took on enough water it stopped working… I yelled over the microphone… bring me another guitar… soon my entire crew was on stage with me … playing in a straight down pour… as 100’s of people stood right up front getting soaked and singing along…. for the next hour we completely destroyed our instruments… it was reckless, irresponsible, and insane….and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever done as a musician… I didn’t tell the boys to come back up there… but they were right behind me the whole way… I will never experience such a spiritual moment as I did last night… nearly 1000 people stuck around for that hour and sang along… I love you all so much. You brought the fire back to my heart for music.”

Thursday, July 4th, gave way to a sunny day, perfect for the runners in the Firecracker Fun Run. The day continued with a fantastic parade that drew thousands lining the streets. After a great parade line-up, crowds headed down to Westerman Park for music, food and shopping; as well as the car show, and kiddie pedal pull. The celebration concluded with a Municipal Band Concert and a spectacular fireworks display.

The festivities extended into the weekend, with the Lennox Ministerial Association hosting a worship service in the park on Sunday, July 7. That afternoon, the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation held its third annual tractor pull, capping off a memorable series of events. More photos can be found on page 2.
