Lennox Bandits open season 2-4 following losses to Larchwood, Elk Point

The Lennox Bandits amateur baseball team has opened its 2026 summer season with a 2-4 record.

The Bandits dropped games to Irene and Tea during May before earning victories over Beresford and Phoenix. Lennox returned to action in June with contests against Larchwood and Elk Point but came up short in both outings.

Larchwood 20, Lennox 6

The Bandits jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against the Larchwood Diamonds on June 11.

Justin Underwood and Isaac Bambas drew walks before Brett Duncan singled to load the bases. Underwood scored on a wild pitch, and Nick Zabel followed with a two-run single to center field, bringing home Duncan and Bambas for a 3-0 advantage.

Larchwood answered in the third inning. After a walk and an error put two runners aboard, Micah Linn connected on a three-run home run to tie the game at 3-3. The Diamonds added another run later in the inning on a sacrifice fly to take a 4-3 lead.

Lennox tied the contest in the bottom of the fourth when Bailey Ludens scored on a wild pitch, making it 4-4.

The game turned in the sixth inning as Larchwood capitalized on a series of walks, errors and timely hits. Zach Vanbeek delivered an RBI triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Linn. The Diamonds plated seven runs in the inning to build an 11-4 advantage.

The Bandits answered with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth. Wyatt Adam and Tate Reiner both walked before Underwood delivered a two-run single to right field, cutting the deficit to 11-6.

Larchwood put the game away with a nine-run seventh inning. The Diamonds scored three runs on an outfield error before adding RBI hits from Linn, Mason Ves Meer and Jacob Kindhart to stretch the lead to 20-6.

Lennox managed two runners in the bottom of the seventh as Peyton Garbers walked and Aiden McCafferty doubled, but the Bandits were unable to push across a run.

Underwood finished with a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored for Lennox. Zabel added a hit and two RBIs, while Duncan collected a hit and scored a run. Garbers recorded a double and McCafferty added a double in the seventh inning.

Larchwood was led by Vanbeek, who went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored. Linn homered and drove in six runs, while Mason Ves Meer collected three hits and scored three times.

Elk Point 15, Lennox 0

The Bandits struggled offensively against the Elk Point Colt 45s on June 14, falling 15-0 in a game shortened to five innings.

Elk Point struck quickly, scoring five runs in the opening frame. Aiden Bobzin tripled home the game’s first run before Keaton Gale highlighted the inning with a two-run homer.

The Colt 45s added two runs in the second inning and four more in the third to build an 11-0 lead. Elk Point scored three times in the fourth and added another run in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Lennox was held without a hit in the contest. The Bandits’ best scoring opportunities came when Wyatt Adam reached after being hit by a pitch in the second inning and when Isaac Bambas drew a walk in the fourth. Neither runner advanced to score.

Nathan Kucera, Nick Zabel, Dayne Moeller, Tate Reiner, Ashton Bach and Isaac Bambas all recorded plate appearances for Lennox, but Elk Point pitchers Logan Bobzin and Keaton Gale combined to keep the Bandits off the scoreboard.

Elk Point was paced by Bobzin, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Gale added a home run and three RBIs, while Hunter Geary, Kayden Moore and Kael Garry also contributed offensively.

With the two losses, the Bandits moved to 2-4 on the season.
