Non-profits from the Lennox, Chancellor and Worthing areas are now able to fill out an online application for grants from the LACF until August 1. The application process is all online.
Applications for grants can be found on www.sfacf.org/lennox.Â
To qualify for a grant, you must be a non-profit organization local to the Lennox area and have proof of non-profit status. If you are wondering whether or not you qualify, or if you’d like to find out how you can help the LACF, you can reach out to Brian Zirpel, LACF treasurer at 605-647-2228.
A board of local directors oversees the fund and works hand-in-hand with community members and civic leaders to understand needs and explore opportunities throughout the area. Board members include Jonathan Hagena, President; Amy Fischer, Vice President; Pam Elhoff, Secretary; Brian Zirpel, Treasurer; Nick Abbas, Lorin Brass, Julia Eng, Vickie Plucker, Alan Rops, Laurie Shaffer, John Steever, and Carol Wulf.
Each year, the board awards grants in support of local nonprofits and community-based projects and ideas. Organizations who serve our youth and senior citizens, as well as those dedicated to important causes such as education, the arts, cultural enrichment, health and safety, and more are all made stronger thanks to support from the Lennox Area Community Fund.
Last year, the LACF gave over $17,000 in grants to local non-profits including the Lennox Area Historical Society, Junior Achievement, Lennox Ambulance, Lennox Volunteer Fire Department, Lennox Community Library, Lincoln County 4-H, Love, INC., and Worthing Fire Department. Since it was founded in 2004, the LACF has given out nearly $140,000 in grants to non-profits that serve communities throughout the area.Â
While there is a time limit people can request a grant, the LACF is open to donations year round. To contribute, individuals can make tax-deductible contributions by visiting www.sfacf.org/lennox. or by mailing in a donation to Lennox Area Community Fund, PO Box 87, Lennox, SD 57039.Â
