Lennox 12u ends season with a 37-6 record with seven tournament wins, including State Title

The Lennox Orioles 12u baseball team started their season practicing indoors in January with the goal of building off last season’s 11u and 12u successes.  The 12u team started offseason workouts with the help of some of the Lennox High School and Senior Legion players Talen Eich, Mason Reischl and Sam Bambas. Coach Jon VandeHoef knew that pitcher development and defense was a priority after last year and bringing in the High School players to share their knowledge and experiences would help the players development in the offseason. The collaboration and offseason work paid off resulting in an impressive 37-6 record.  Throughout the season, the 12u team participated in nine tournaments. Tournament locations included Brandon, Sioux Falls, Wakefield, Beresford, Madison, Aberdeen, Brookings and the VFW State Tournament in Beresford.  The Lennox 12u team reached the championship game in every tournament and took home first place in seven of the nine tournaments.  On July 19th they capped off their successful season with a State Championship win over Dell Rapids.  In total, the team allowed only eight runs in the six State tournament games they played in, led by great pitching and defense.

Players on the 12u team included Gavin Schmidt, Cason Zens, RJ VandeHoef, Eli Johnson, Creyton Seykora, Lincoln Peterson, Lance Kolthoff, Marek Wulf, Easton Doud, Grady Peterson, Jase Thoms, and Mason Reints. The 12u team was coached by Jon VandeHoef, assisted by Clayton Wulf, Matt Zens and Brandon Peterson.  The team would like to thank the several local sponsors who donated funds and resources for jerseys, equipment and tournament fees.
