The Worthing Community Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to the City of Worthing, surrounding townships, and through mutual aid to other communities in Lincoln County.
The department consists of 24 volunteers, with an excellent mix of experienced and new members. These volunteers respond to approximately 120 combined fire, medical, auto collision, and mutual aid calls per year. Emerging challenges for the department include growing industry and increased traffic in the region, especially on nearby Interstate 29.
Due to the increased scope of some responses, interagency communication is important to the safety and success of all parties. This interagency capability is increased by placing digital radios in the hands of key leaders.
The Lennox Area Community Fund recently award the Worthing Fire Department with a $2,500 grant.
This generous grant from the Lennox Area Community fund will allow for an additional digital radio to be fielded by the department, and have a significant effect on its ability to work with area law enforcement and emergency services during responses.
