FFA Zoo Boo a success

While Halloween is still over a week away local youth had the chance to bust out their costumes early this past Sunday. With their costumes on and their candy buckets ready many kids headed to the Lennox FFA Chapter’s Zoo Boo at the Lennox High School.

Local youth had the chance to go behind the high school and get an up close experience with many different types of animals. These animals included horses, ponies, donkeys, a lizard, a duck and rabbits. Many of those in attendance had never been this close to these types of animals in their life.

While there, the FFA members not only let local youth hold and pet the animals, they also taught them about the animals. They were taught the proper way to pet chickens and how to stay at the head of a donkey to be safe. There was one animal in particular that the youth learned a lot about and that was the lizard.

While seeing each of the animals, the children also received candy. This was a huge bonus after getting to pet so many different types of animals. Some animal stations even had the children answer questions about the animals to receive candy; although the kids received candy even if they weren’t sure about the answer.

The event lasted for a few hours and was huge success. Many families in attendance were extremely appreciative for the chance to bring their children to see the different types of animals.

The event was a great addition to the many events that local youth have to choose from this Halloween season.

Next up will be the Lennox Commercial Club annual Trunk or Treat this year to be held on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in combination with the Active Faith Chiropractic Fall Festival. The event will take place in the parking lot in front of Active Faith Chiropractic (AFC) and off to the side near Ace Hardware in Lennox.

Not only will Commercial Club businesses have decorated trunks and candy to handy out, there will be opportunities to shop for those in attendance at the 18 vendor booths that will be there. Take advantage of the fall day and start your Holiday shopping early while the kids are occupied.

Along with vendor booths, the AFC Fall Festival will have a bouncy house, apple cider/hot chocolate, food grilled by Ace Hardware, kid Halloween/Fall games, pumpkin paintings, Gaylen’s Popcorn, petting zoo, and inflatables. There will be a Best-dressed Costume contest and the trick-or-treating at every vendor booth plus the Lennox Commercial Club trunk-or-treat.

The Lennox Active Faith Chiropractic office is located at 420 E. Boynton Ave., Unit C, Lennox. The fee for a vendor table fee is $20 with all proceeds going to the Lennox School District. For more information email info@activefaithchiro.com or call 605-951-9650.

Traditional Halloween trick or treat will still take place in town on Sunday, October 31. Typically people just turn their porch light on if they would like kids to stop by.
