The Lennox-Worthing-Chancellor Dirt Devils saw their postseason run come to an end on Saturday, Aug. 9, falling 8-4 to Four Corners in the opening round of the State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Brandon.

Four Corners came out swinging in the top of the first inning, scoring four runs on a pair of doubles, two singles, and a walk. Andrew Coverdale started the rally with a fly ball double to left, followed by a walk to Brad Hand. Garrett Stout’s RBI single got Four Corners on the board before Sam Hand’s line-drive double added another. An RBI groundout by Matt Lusk and a run-scoring single from River Iverson pushed the lead to 4-0 before the Dirt Devils could escape the inning.

LWC got on the board in the bottom of the second. After Wyatt Adam reached on a fielder’s choice and Quentin Evers was hit by a pitch, Bailey Ludens reached on an error that allowed Adam to score. Moments later, Evers came home on an error by the catcher, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

Four Corners tacked on a run in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly, but the Dirt Devils answered back in the bottom half when Peyton Garbers singled and later scored on a base hit by Talen Eich, making it 5-3.

The game broke open in the sixth inning when Four Corners scored three more runs. S. Hand delivered an RBI double, and Lusk followed with a two-run double to left, giving Four Corners an 8-3 cushion.

LWC pushed across one final run in the bottom of the sixth when Eich reached on an error and scored on a single by Evers. But Four Corners’ starter Van Camp was tough on the mound, holding the Dirt Devils scoreless the rest of the way.

On the mound for the Dirt Devils were Dylan Vosberg, Cole Spieler and Conner Eich. Vosberg pitched just  over one inning, allowing five hits, four runs and recording two strikeouts.

Spieler pitched just over four innings, allowing six hits, four runs and recording six strike-outs. Eich pitched just over three innings, allowing only one hit and recording five strike-outs.

The loss ends the Dirt Devils’ 2025 season.
