The Lennox High School varsity boys’ cross country team emerged victorious at the Sioux Center Invite, and the LHS girls capture second place honors as a team.
Leading the charge for Lennox was Maverick Horst who finished in fifth place with a time of 17:08.04. Noah Sayler followed closely behind in seventh place, clocking in at 17:17.41. Cloy McVey secured ninth place with a time of 17:21.31, and Cade Sherard came in 13th with a time of 17:26.34. Chett Jibben rounded out the top 25, finishing in 24th place with a time of 17:57.82. Noah Wood also competed, taking 47th with a time of 19:08.15 and Andrew Stensaas took 61st (20:05.92).
Leading the Lennox varsity girls to their second place team finish was Kelsey Schmidt who won individual honors with a time of 19:40.73. Adie McVey came in seventh place for Lennox with a time of 20:18.84, while Karlie Bosma secured 23rd place with a time of 21:52.08. Kamille Schmidt took 26th with a time of 22.07.63, Josephine Plucker took 27th (22:08.52) and Regan Van Meeteren 28th (22:08.91). Holly Gillick rounded out the team in 53rd place with a time of 23:33.89.
The LHS JV girls also captured first place team honors led by Allison Loewe who won the race with a time of 22:02.47. Natalie Aesoph captured second with a time of 22:53.31 and Kenzie Bosma took third with a time of 23:10.62. Ellianna Thill clocked a time of 23:37.45 (7th place); Graycee Postma 24:27.48 (16th place); Kassidy Williamson 26:07.90 (35th place); Callie Hammerstrom 26:30.08 (44th place); Jenna Duncan 26:44.74 (47th place); Maddyn Hossle 27:08.03 (57th place) and Jaelyn Fergen 28:22.73 (68th place).
For the JV boys, Elijah Johnson led the way for Lennox with a time of 19:41.55, placing 12th. Noah Werner took 16th with a time of 20:00.44, Connor Sherard finished in 45th place with a time of 21:40.70; Duncan Johnson took 53rd (22:01.37), Isaiah Sayler 54th (22:01.37), Cade Aasheim 67th (22:29.66), Landon Atkins 74th (22:49.34), Jack Aasheim 83rd (24:01.22), and Karson Iken 105th (26:08.76).
There was also a boys and girls junior high run. For the boys, Lennox’s Landon Strasser won the race with a time of 11:58.26. Isaak Booker finished with a time of 12:27.58 to take fourth place; Leo Aesoph 12:39.62 (7th place); Jackson Schmidt 13:15.78 (14th place); Charley Bittner 13:19.15 (15th place); Braylon Plucker 14:01.49 (29th place); and Lance Aasheim 16:32.13 (67th place).
For the girls, Lennox’s Gracie Wood led the way for the Junior High girls with a time of 15:02.88 to take sixth place. Lucy Carlson clocked a time of 15:29.86 for 17th place, Ava Elk Boy took 30th with a time of 16:57.52, Kadence Gerry 31st (16:58.17), and Harper Walsh 48th place with a time of 18:18.18.
The LHS cross country team will host their first home meet of the season on Thursday, Sept. 28 at the Lenkota Country Club. Races begin at 4 p.m.
