The Lennox High School cross country team began their season this past Friday, Aug. 30 competing in the Beresford Invite.
For the varsity girls, senior Kelsey Schmidt (pictured at right) was a top performer, finishing 7th with a time of 19:22.02.
Adie McVey, an 8th grader, set a personal record with her tenth place finish at 19:41.52.
Kamille Schmidt and Natalie Aesoph, both eighth graders, achieved personal bests, finishing 26th and 27th with times of 21:29.69 and 21:35.46, respectively.
Sophia Johnson finished 29th at 21:56.79, while Allison Loewe took 38th place with a time of 22:21.68. Lucy Carlson (22.55.04) and Josephine Plucker (23:33.68) also competed for the varsity girls.
For the varsity boys, Cloy McVey led the Lennox varsity boys, finishing 11th with a time of 17:09.45.
Senior Noah Sayler followed in 20th place, posting a time of 17:37.33.
Seniors Chett Jibben, Cade Sherard, and Maverick Horst finished in 30th, 31st, and 34th places, respectively, with times of 18:32.28, 18:33.34, and 18:42.53.
Landon Strasser, an 8th grader, took a 37th place finish at 18:51.07. Also competing for the varsity boys were Isaak Booker (19.22.87), Leo Aesop (19:34.94), and Jackson Schmidt (21:03.04).
For the junior varsity girls, Kensi Holland, a 7th grader, finished 11th, clocking in at 18:08.84.
Kaydence Gerry took 33rd place with a time of 20:13.22. Seniors Jenna Duncan and Graycee Postma finished 58th and 60th, posting times of 22:50.98 and 23:01.69, respectively.
Maddyn Hossle and Madison Eden crossed the line nearly together, taking 61st and 62nd places with times of 23:07.33 and 23:07.75.
For the junior varsity boys, Andrew Stensaas led Lennox, finishing 19th with a time of 15:42.96.
Jack Aasheim, a senior, secured 50th place with a time of 17:09.20. Cade Aasheim, a 10th grader, finished close behind in 57th place with a time of 17:23.02. Duncan Johnson and Isaiah Sayler rounded out the team’s efforts, placing 86th and 91st with times of 18:43.21 and 18:59.60, respectively.
Adalynn Nielson was the top performer for the Lennox junior high girls, finishing in 14:46.45 and earning 68th place.
Harper Walsh, an 8th grader, clocked in at 16:24.90, taking 90th place. Lily Kuiken finished at 17:51.28, followed by Ashley Dummer at 19:47.78, placing 105th and 109th, respectively.
Lance Aasheim led the Lennox junior high boys with a strong finish, recording a personal best time of 12:49.96, securing the 53rd spot. Triston Sturm, a 7th grader, followed with a time of 13:02.47, placing 64th. Greyson Seeman, also in 7th grade, completed the race in 13:42.29, earning the 79th position.
Lennox will be back in action this Friday, Sept. 6 when they compete at Yankton Trail Park in the Augustana Twilight Meet.
