Conaway takes position at Harrisburg

After eight years as superintendent of the Lennox School District, Chad Conaway reflected on the accomplishments the district has seen during his time before going to the Harrisburg School District this summer.

“There are a number of items I have had the opportunity to lead through inclusive of multiple building and grounds projects, recovery from a natural disaster, several boundary changes and the passage of a bond for a significant addition to the high school, to name a few,” Conaway said. “However, as an instructional leader first, I’m most proud of the continuous improvement in student achievement and the recent recognition the district received from our national accreditation institution, Cognia.”

Cognia recognized Lennox School District with the Circle of Excellence Award for the district’s comprehensive, formalized continuous improvement process which demonstrates their commitment to addressing the learning needs of all students.

Prior to coming to Lennox eight years ago, Conaway was an elementary teacher in the Alcester-Hudson School District, four years as a 5-12 principal in the Centerville School District and two years as elementary principal and superintendent in Centerville.

Conaway said the opportunity came open in the Harrisburg School District and aligned with his future career aspirations.

As director of student services in Harrisburg, Conaway will serve as the homeless/migrant program administrator, assist with the adoption of counseling curriculum, provide resources and support for the operational effectiveness throughout the district and serve as the counseling program liaison for communication and consistency between buildings and levels.

He will also be responsible for daily management of student support services like social work, child nutrition, nursing, transportation, facilities, grounds and building projects.

Conaway’s last day as Lennox superintendent will be June 30 and his first official day in Harrisburg will be July 1.
