Community members are invited to join in a day of fun, games, and giving back at the Brave the Odds Bean Bag Tournament and Bingo Bash this Sunday, May 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Squealers in Tea.
The event promises an afternoon of friendly competition with a bean bag tournament and lively bingo games. Participants can show off their tossing skills for a chance to win prizes in the tournament by registering online or scanning a QR code pictured. Bingo enthusiasts can enjoy ten games for $10, with exciting prizes awarded each round. Along with games, attendees can look forward to delicious food, drinks, and special surprises throughout the day.
More than just an afternoon of fun, the event serves a larger purpose: honoring the life and legacy of Pruitt Kruse. Jordan and Chris Kruse, parents of Pruitt, have launched The Brave Little One Foundation, a new initiative dedicated to supporting and empowering children and families in need. Inspired by Pruitt’s courage and love, the foundation will focus on providing resources and awareness for Ornithine Transcarbamylase (OTC) Deficiency, grief support, scholarships, and more through projects like Pruitt’s Closet, The Brave Little One Scholarship, Project Pruitt, and annual events including a golf tournament.
Pruitt’s story is one of profound strength. Born on May 17, 2024, he appeared to be a healthy newborn. However, just days later, Pruitt showed troubling signs and was rushed to the hospital. After extensive testing, he was diagnosed with OTC Deficiency, a rare genetic disorder that affects the body’s ability to eliminate ammonia. Despite intensive medical care, including multiple hospitalizations, dialysis treatments, and surgeries, Pruitt passed away on November 22, 2024, at just six months old.
In addition to the May 4 event, the foundation has several other activities planned, including a Family Fun Fest at the Lenkota Golf Course on Friday, July 18, from 4:30 to 8 p.m., featuring a free-will donation meal from 5 to 7 p.m. The following day, Saturday, July 19, The Brave Little One Golf Tournament will take place at the Lenkota Golf Course with 27 teams competing in an 18-hole scramble beginning with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
