Board approves Brian Field as interim superintendent

The Lennox School Board met March 11 with three board members absent and approved the last day of school for this school year as May 17.

Superintendent Chad Conaway noted the last day of school will be May 17 barring no more snow days.

The board will not have an election this year as the two open positions went unopposed. Renae Buehner and Jennifer Slack were the only people to fill out petitions to fill the open seats.

The board approved the resignations of Greg Pabst for high school math and Dustin McLouth for junior high boys basketball as long as a suitable candidate can be found. Custodian Jessica Bauer put in her resignation.

They approved the new hires of Trey Manitz as assistant boys tennis and Brian Field as interim superintendent starting July 1. Jim Minck was hired as a custodian.

The board declared a pass-through refrigerator as surplus. It no longer works and has zero value.

They approved the worker’s compensation for new substitutes, Drew Kuyper, Katharina Elledge and Izaak Cramer, as well as tennis volunteer Jaxon Plank.

The board approved the softball custodial account.

The board approved the service agreement with GeoTek for construction and testing services. Their bid came in at an estimate of $37,750 and $44,250.

They approved the contract with Puetz Construction for work on the high school project.

Conaway reported that they had their first construction meeting on March 1. The tentative schedule has site prep work starting April 22, excavation of the foundation for June 3 and having the foodservice area and tennis courts ready by mid-August.

Conaway also recognized director of special services Laura Welch as the winner of the 2024 Outstanding Special Education Administrator in South Dakota.

The board adjourn at 6:37 p.m.
