Angel quilt raffle fundraiser underway

As October marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month this month holds significance for the Angel Albums project, dedicated to providing solace to grieving families.

Angel Albums, designed by Rebecca Hanson, serve as poignant scrapbooks for families who have experienced infant loss. The initiative began in 2003, inspired by Rebecca’s personal loss of her infant daughter, Brenna.

These albums are available in hospitals across South Dakota. Creation and distribution of the albums are funded in large part by raffle sales for the Angel Quilt throughout the month of October.

This year’s exquisite quilt, named “Fall’s Finery,” measures 64x69 and features soft coral, peach and rust hues with a delicate scalloped boarder. The quilt’s creator, Carolyn Goudy-Carlson, passionately supports the Angel Albums initiative in honor of her own daughter, Samantha, who tragically passed away from adult SIDS in 2013.

“Making the quilt every year is like making Samantha a birthday present,” said Goudy-Carlson. Samantha was born Oct. 15, 1991.

You can contribute and support the Angel Albums by purchasing raffle tickets for just $1 each or $5 for six tickets. The raffle proceeds play a crucial role in funding the production and distribution of these albums to hospitals across South Dakota. Tickets can be purchased through the month of October.

To participate in the raffle, simply make a check payable to Angel Albums and send it to Carolyn Goudy-Carlson at 27807 469th Ave., Lennox, SD 57039. Be sure to include your name and phone number on the ticket. Tickets can also be purchased at The Lennox Independent office. The drawing will take place live on the Angel Albums Facebook page in mid-November.

For those who prefer to make a donation, Angel Albums is a 501c non-profit organization, and receipts for donations can be provided upon request. Reach out to the Angel Albums Facebook page or contact Carolyn Goudy-Carlson at (605) 214-2040 for more information.

Your support in this fundraiser not only helps grieving families but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to the memories of Brenna and Samantha, ensuring that no one has to face their grief alone.
