A growing community event aimed at bringing residents together for relaxed evenings in the park is set to return for its second year. Park Drive After 5, spearheaded by Brandie Nordman, will kick off its 2026 season on May 29 at Lennox Park, offering live music, local vendors and family-friendly activities.
Following a successful first year, Nordman said the event is already seeing noticeable growth.
“This year, we have several different vendors reaching out for the farmers market,” she said. “There will be some of the same vendors as last year, and also a bunch of new vendors to explore.”
One of the highlights of 2026 is live music at the park’s bandshell during each event. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of entertainment in a casual, small-town setting.
The May 29 kickoff event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature musical guest Tara Faber, who will perform from 6 to 8 p.m.
“She has a big following, she plays all over and has even had a record deal and toured years ago,” said Nordman. “She plays some cover music as well as some of her own. She plays all sorts of music.”
In addition to live music, families can expect a variety of attractions, including approximately 20 vendors offering items such as baked goods, handmade crafts, jams and jellies, fresh flowers, salsa, jerky and boutique items. Food trucks will also be on site, along with a planned “sit and shine” featuring classic and vintage cars.
While vendor registration remains open, Nordman said she is pleased with the early response and variety.
“They are anywhere from cottage bakeries to unique crafting,” she said.
Beyond providing entertainment, Nordman emphasized the importance of events like Park Drive After 5 for the Lennox community.
“It gives that small-town atmosphere,” she said. “It’s a family-friendly event and a time to socialize with your neighbors. It brings more options to the town of Lennox for food and shopping, as well as a fun evening in the park.”
Additional events are scheduled throughout the summer, including June 19, July 17, August 21 and September 18. The June 19 event will feature a performance by Allison Harmony, a father-daughter duo made up of Chad Allison and his daughter, along with a BBQ rib competition, food trucks and a display of classic cars.
Planning is still underway for the July, August and September dates, but each evening will include live music and a variety of activities.
Organizers are also encouraging local involvement from school, sports and youth groups. Teams and organizations are invited to set up booths as fundraisers or participate in activities during the events. Last year, the Lennox volleyball team hosted a root beer float stand and dunk tank to raise money.
Nordman said she is also seeking volunteers, including high school students in need of service hours, as well as groups interested in running games or activities such as bingo, petting areas or youth entertainment. She also said any dance team or marching bands wanting to perform at the banshee before the musician would be welcomed.
“The ideas are endless,” she said.
