LHS football team ready for 2019 season

The Lennox High School football team will once again have several talented athletes on both sides of the ball, but will need to fill key roles in critical areas on the field as the 2019 season gets underway.

“We lost nine talented seniors from last year,” said Oriole head coach Matt Luze. “They all played a major role with the team. Zach Leisinger, Ray Williams, Tyson Stoebner, Brock Anderson, Blayne Wallenstein, JD Halverson, Quincy Ihnen, Christian Tolliver, and Holden Wagner are not guys easy to replace.”

That being said, the team will be bringing back some very strong returning players from last year’s team. Among them is Caleb Metcalf, a returning 11A All-State wide receiver. Other returning starters include Haden Mendel, Josh Arlt, Austin Metivier, Mason Temme, Brandon Fodness, Kaleb Johnson, and Peyton Eich.

“We have good team chemistry on the field,” said Luze. “These boys do a great job of working together to solve problems during competition and hold each other accountable.”

The Orioles boast a 58 man roster this season, which features several high level back-ups from last season that will be starting on this year’s team.
