Lennox Legion claims Region 3B title — State Tournament to be held in Lennox, Aug. 2-6


Lennox Post 174 Legion baseball team claimed the Region 3B Championship on Friday, July 26, defeating Beresford, 11-9 in extra innings.

Lennox advanced to the championship, after defeating Elk Point Jefferson, 9-3 on Thursday, July 25.

To lead Lennox, Zach Foss went 4 of 4 at the plate, highlighted with two doubles. He scored four runs in the game. Mason Miller doubled and singled, scoring twice. Zach Leisinger and Brock Anderson each doubled. J.D. Kirchner and Camden Wulf each had a hit in the victory.

Kirchner handled pitching duties, striking out ten batters in six innings.

Lennox had defeated Vermillion, 10-4 in the opening game of Regions.

Lennox will host the 2019 Class B State Senior Legion Baseball Tournament beginning this Friday, Aug. 2.

Action begins at 10:30 a.m. on Friday with Tabor taking on Redfield. Game 2, featuring Winner/Colome Post 169 and Beresford Post 72 will begin 30 minutes following Game 1.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., Opening Ceremonies will take place with Game 3 slated to begin at approximately 5 p.m. Big Stone Post 229 and Humboldt Post 62 will play in Game 3. Featured in Game 4 will be Dell Rapids Post 65 and host, Lennox. That game will begin approximately 30 minutes after Game 3.

Action continues on Saturday, Aug. 3 and continues through Tuesday, Aug. 6.
