Lincoln County Achievement Days to feature several new events

4-H youth throughout Lincoln County have been busy getting ready for the Lincoln County Achievement Days.  

This year the Achievement Days will be held July 27 through  August 1.  Saturday will feature the 4-H Dog Show beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Sunday and Monday are set aside for checking in 4-H and Open Class Exhibits as well as judging the display exhibits.  

The public is welcome to take in the activities and livestock shows Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  There are many new events scheduled for this year.  Each day at 11 a.m. there will be a Clover Corner Kids Craft time. These crafts will be geared for youngsters 8 and under.  The Lincoln County 4-H Summer Interns will be working with the kids on these fun activities.

There will also be Entertainment Under the Tent each day at 1 p.m.  On Tuesday, the Zoomobile will be presenting some special and interesting animals.  Wednesday Juniper Apothecary and Creative Spirits are coming to the grounds to do make and takes with children of all ages (there will be a $7 fee for this event.)  The Outdoor Campus rounds out the week with an Archery Demonstration on Thursday.

Another new event will be a 4-H Horse Demonstration / Exhibition in the show ring at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30th.  Also, on Tuesday, 4-H youth will have an opportunity to compete in Ag Olympics at 4 p.m. and their parents can compete in Ag games at 8:30 a.m.  Tuesday will also be the Cat and Companion Animal Show (9 a.m.) the Poultry Show (10:30 a.m.) and the Swine Show (6 p.m.).

Wednesday will begin with the Beef show at 9 a.m.  The rabbit show gets underway at 12 p.m. and the Cloverbuds take center stage with Cloverbud Show and Tell at 4 p.m. under the tent.  From 5-7:30 p.m., 4-Hers, their families and the public are all welcome to take in the 4-H Barbecue.  

The 4-H Public Fashion Revue begins at 5:30 p.m. with the Talent Show following at 6:30 p.m.  4-H Awards will be presented at 7:30  p.m. and then the fun really begins!  Youth Activities begin at 8 p.m.  There will be a teen dance in the show ring and fun and games for the younger 4-Hers under the big tent.

The Sheep Show is first on Thursday’s agenda beginning at 8 a.m. At two o’clock (or following the sheep show) will be the Dairy Show.  The Round Robin competition is set to begin at 4 p.m., followed by the Premium Sale Dinner for Buyers.  The 2019 Achievement Days will round out its schedule with the Premium Sale beginning at 6 p.m. Display exhibits, poultry and rabbits will be released at 6 p.m. with the rest of the livestock released at the conclusion of the Premium Sale.

The 4-Hers and their families invite you out to the Achievement Days grounds east of Canton to see all of their hard work.
