Lennox Old Fashioned 4th — biggest year yet

July 11, 2019

The Old Fashioned 4th of July has become a Lennox legend — crowds descend on the community during festivities held on July 3rd and 4th each year.

Lennox Commercial Club organizes the event. Commercial Club President Eric Machmuller estimated that this year was the biggest by far. He said that over 2,100 tickets were sold at the gate for Wednesday night’s Street Dance featuring the Johnny Holm Band. He added the patrons and money that came in was off the charts.

The burn-out contest held that evening, along with cruise night, also saw a great turnout, see page 14 for more photos.

On Thursday, July 4th traffic was slow coming in to Lennox, as cars poured in to town before the 10:30 a.m. parade. The Vanguard Squadron flew over Main Street just before the start of the parade — politicians, patriotic themed trucks, flatbeds, and more provided entertainment for the crowds that lined the streets.

Following the parade, crowds headed to the park for food, the pageant, entertainment, the car show and more. Check out more coverage inside this issue.
