Lennox resident Kris Becker has always loved animals. That love for animals went to a new level in January 2018 when she answered a Facebook ad looking for people to foster cats.
“We saw an ad on Facebook that they needed kitten fosters. We filled out an application and in May we signed up to foster,” Becker said.
Through All Cats Rescue in Sioux Falls, Becker and her daughter, Alyssa, have fostered more than 70 cats and kittens in the past year and a half. The cats they have fostered range in age from newborn to 10 years old and pregnant cats.
Sometimes they will have them for a couple weeks. Their longest resident was nine months.
They get cats from varying backgrounds. Some are kittens, where something happened to their mother or owner surrenders. One litter of kittens came from a mother cat that died in a house fire in Yankton.
“We’ve had a couple that it took a while for them to warm up,” she said.
All Cats Rescue is in need of fosters. Anyone interested in becoming a cat foster home can fill out an application on the group’s website at www.allcatsrescue.org.
Foster homes need to have some room in their home and extra time. They do meet and greets at the PetSmart stores in Sioux Falls a couple of times a month.
