Worthing puts three lots up for sale

After needing to reschedule its Feb. 25 commission meeting to March 4 due to a lack of a quorum, the Worthing City Commission has met every Monday this month for the makeup meeting, regular meetings and the annual equalization meeting.

At the March 4 meeting, the commission decided to advertise for sale three city-owned lots in town. Those lots include one on Main Street directly south of Blue Sky Junction at lot 14, EX S 2’ and all of lot 15, block 5. The other two lots are on Joel Street in the Johnson Subdivision block 2, lots 26 and 27.

Mayor Brad Hazuka said they went through the bid specs and plans for water tower painting with Stockwell Engineers, which is to include both inside and outside painting. Bids are being accepted and will be opened the first week of April. While a timeline will not be set for water tower painting, they have specified that it will need to be completed before Oct. 1.

The tractor the city leases from Kibble Equipment has some damage on one fender. The city questioned some of the insurance deductibles and finance officer Linda Hunnel will report back to the city with that information.

The commission drew for how the candidates will appear on the ballot for the city commissioner election April 9.
