On Tuesday, Dec. 11 the Lennox High School boys’ basketball team grabbed a win in their home opener, defeating Milbank, 69-48.
“It was great to see a quality team from up North that we have not seen in quite a while,” said LHS head coach Paul McVey. “Against Milbank we were able to assert our will defensively, especially on the glass.”
The Orioles grabbed 29 offensive rebounds in the game, finishing the night with 41 total rebounds.
Lennox led 12-7 after one quarter of play and outscored the Bulldogs 42-27 in the second half.
“Because we were able to force them into contested shots and grab almost all of the available caroms we were able to get our transition game going and we were able to successfully counter-attack,” said McVey. “We missed far too many lay-ups and free throws, so we know we have some things to work on as far as individual skill-work is concerned to ‘sharpen the saw’. We were able to see our players come off the bench play very well and the game proved to be a true team effort.”
