New Post Master at Lennox hard at work with the Holiday season

With the Holidays come plenty of Christmas cards, care packages, and gifts to ship. In the midst of the busy shipping season, workers at the United States Postal Service are kept quite busy. There’s a new Post Master here at Lennox to take the helm and to take on the Holiday shipping season and beyond.

Pat O’Malley recently started as the new Post Master in town. O’Malley has a long career with USPS that has led him to Lennox. Over the years O’Malley has served a variety of communities in different roles. Originally from a ranch in Chambers, Nebraska, he got his start with his first position in December of 1987 down in Kansas as a city carrier. He stayed there until 1989 when he then transferred to North Platte, Nebraska, where he stayed until 1993. Later, he worked as a carrier at Rapid City, SD from 1993 - 1999. In August of 1999, he earned the title of Post Master in Centerville.

O’Malley then came over to nearby Tea to serve as Post Master in 2012 and stayed there until 2017. In 2017 he took the Post Master job in Vermillion, and served there about a year, before coming to work with the Lennox Post Office on November 10, 2018.

After all this work at the Postal Service, O’Malley stated that his favorite part of his job is, “The customers. Helping them with packages or just making sure the packages get to them on time, or if they’re tracking a package and helping them. Just helping the customers, it’s my favorite part.”
