Protect and serve

Safety and security are at the top of the lists these days when people discuss priorities. The City of Lennox is under 24 hour police protection, seven days a week, thanks to a full staff of four full time officers and several part-time officers. The newest full-time officer, Seth Blomgren, started just a few weeks ago.

Officer Blomgren has experience with the Sioux Falls Police Department, and is a current Army National Guardsman. He is from Elk River, Minnesota.

He had a cousin who lived in Lennox and had visited the community prior to taking the position here. He said, “It seemed like a nice, friendly community. I like the small town feel.”

Blomgren always knew he wanted to be a first responder. He was attending college in Mankato, MN and meet a professor there who was a Minneapolis police officer. Her stories inspired Blomgren to pursue a career in law enforcement.

He enjoys the challenges of the job. He added, “You get to know people and help them in their time of need.”

In his off time Blomgren enjoys playing guitar and archery. He also likes to spend time outdoors and enjoys deer hunting. He’s most looking forward to getting to know the community and the other Lennox officers.

Other officers include, Police Chief, Orv Jorgensen. He was born in Volga, SD and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. He attended Lake Area Vo-Tech and graduated with a degree in automotive mechanics. After working several different jobs during the lay off years, he decided to join the Navy as an Aviation Bomb Tech serving on the USS Independence and Forrestal for four and a half years.

Following his service, Jorgensen then went to a law enforcement/anti-terrorism school and became a Naval Police Officer. After just over three years, he elected to stay in law enforcement and moved back to SD and took a chief’s job in Marion, SD for 13 years. Jorgensen also worked part time for the Turner Co. Sheriff’s Office. He started full time with the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s office in 2005, and continues to work part time for them.
