Organizers of Funds for Their Future, a fund raiser for the Hoover children from Lennox, have been very busy in the last few weeks gathering and organizing donations for this Saturday’s big event.
The family-friendly Quarter Craze and Silent Auction event has been planned to benefit Ashton (age 10), Mason (age 7), and Madelyn (age 2) Hoover. The three Lennox children were left without their parents and brother Zachary (age 7) after a recent tragedy at their home.
The event will take place Saturday, November 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lennox High School Gym. This all day affair includes a quarter craze, silent auction, bake sale, concessions and 50-50 drawing.
The Quarter Craze will be a fun, fast-paced time of entertainment, bargains and fund-raising. Guests can purchase bidding paddles for $5 per paddle and $3 for each additional paddle. The Quarter Craze takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One of the organizers of the event, Char Oltmanns said Monday, “It is going to be a great day. Holly and I spent hours organizing everything for the event, and still people are stopping in dropping off donations throughout the weekend and already first thing this morning!”
The list of donated items and gift certificates is long, many of the items are featured on the event’s Facebook page. Some of the items are big ticket items like a 22 inch self propelled mower donated by D&D Small Engine Repair of Lennox, which has a $425 value. Another large donation came from local seed dealer Brock Hoogestraat who donated six bags of Producers Hybrids VT2 seed corn, which is a $1500 value.
There is really something for everyone—make-up, toys, tickets—so many options for people to bid on, and all the money raised will be going to the Hoover children.
Oltmanns said, “Now everyone needs to show up with their quarters to play and try to win some great prizes!”
A Silent Auction will also take place beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. Guests will sign up for a bidding number for the silent auction and place bids on the items using set minimum starting bids and bidding increments.
One local business decided to offer a challenge to other businesses to help the Hoover children. Jerry’s Auto Sales of Lennox has held several Charity Golf Tournaments in past years. Jerry would like to make a sizable donation by using the proceeds from these tournaments. Jerry’s Charity Golf tournament will match any business donation or group donation totaling up to $7500.00.
Event Organizer Holly Wiebers Doud released on Monday that the first matching business donation was received.
She said, “Thank you to Valley Exchange Bank and Exchange Insurance for your $1500 donation that will be matched by Jerry’s Auto Sales Charity Golf Tournament Funds!”
