Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2017 emergency personnel responded to a call at a residence in the 400 block of South Main Street, Lennox. According to Dennis Johnson, Lincoln County Sheriff, there were three bodies with gunshot wounds discovered at the home in Lennox — two adults, one male and one female, along with an eight year old boy. Names were not released at press time.
Sheriff Johnson said the crime scene strongly suggests it was a murder/suicide.
At the Tuesday afternoon press conference, Sheriff Johnson also reported that crime scene crews were still working on the scene and that once the authorities are able to go through the evidence they will make a more conclusive determination as to what occurred.
He said, “We believe it is all contained inside the residence. We do not believe the public is in any danger.”
The initial report came in at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. The school was on soft lock-down briefly.
Lennox Police Department, Lennox Fire Department, Lennox Area Ambulance, as well as Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies were on scene.
UPDATE (9/27/17 - 4:25 p.m.) The name of the perpetrator in Tuesday morning’s shooting in Lennox has been released; Stephanie Hoover, a 35 year old female is believed to have shot and killed an eight year old boy and an adult male, names are not being released for the victims. Chief Orv Jorgensen said that the authorities came to that conclusion due to an overwhelming amount of evidence.He added that there appears to have been some motive to it, but due to the ongoing investigation no further details could be released.
