Lennox voters did not support the funding option for a new swimming pool in Tuesday’s Special Election. With a 33% voter turnout the bond failed — 140 votes in favor to 338 opposed.
Voters were asked to consider allowing the City of Lennox to issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $2,800,000 for the purpose of paying all or a portion of the cost of designing, constructing, equipping, and installing a new outdoor public swimming pool and related facilities to be located at Westerman Park.
Lennox Mayor Orville Wiebers said, “After the results of the vote on the bond issue, the council is now challenged with finding out what the citizens of Lennox will support in the funding of a pool. Surveys and meetings will need to be held. Sadly, this process will further delay the pool project.”
