The Lennox School Board met Aug. 14.
In the superintendent’s report, superintendent Chad Conaway noted that they refinanced some of their bonds and saw some savings by doing so.
He also noted the track has been a challenge to get done before football games start. The track is done now except the lines need to be painted. The sign on the back of the scoreboard should be ready by Aug. 24 and a tree that blocks the sign will be moved. The flag pole is also up at the football field and will be lit.
Conaway said that Seal Pros was the low bid for the parking lot, however, he was dissatisfied with some of the work done and he is working with Stockwell Engineers to fix that.
He also talked about the schools fiberoptic line that runs from the elementary to the high school. The line was installed in 2005 and is in the easement along Main Street. The contractor working on the street project would feel more comfortable if 400 feet of that line was dropped lower to reduce his risk of hitting the line. At the meeting, Conaway felt the district should wait it out and see what happens. Board member Nancy Nelson questioned the actual cost of moving the line.
The board approved the resignations of Melissa Dalseide as Lennox site coordinator for Totally Kids, Stormie Nice as Worthing site coordinator for Totally Kids and Karen Ketcham as junior high special education aide.
