Lennox wins first ever Class B Jr. Legion State Tournament

The Lennox Jr. Legion baseball team traveled to Groton for the inaugural Class B Jr. Legion state tournament held August 4-6.

The first team on the schedule for Lennox was Claremont-Britton and the boys showed early that they were a team to be reckoned with. While Tyson Stoebner held Claremont scoreless in the first two innings from the mound, the Lennox bats went to work. Singles by Brock Anderson and Zach Leisinger got things started and walks to Quincy Ihnen and Ray Williams put Lennox on the scoreboard. Holden Wagner came up and hit a ground ball that was mishandled by the defense which allowed the locals to put four runs up in the first inning.

JD Kirchner and Stoebner started the second with singles and the bases were loaded when Leisinger connected to clear the bases with a triple and an overthrow allowed him to score to make the score 8-0 after two innings.

Claremont-Britton put a run across in the third inning, but it was in vain as Lennox answered with a run in the third and two in the fourth to make the score 11-1. Stoebner got two ground balls and a pop up to short stop Ihnen to end the game in five innings.
