For many families in the area summer time means 4-H projects, and for those in Lincoln County next week is packed full of events with Lincoln County Achievement Days. This year Achievement Days will be held July 29th through August 3rd at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Canton, SD.
It’s not only 4-H kids who get in on the action during Achievement Days. Many people in the area enjoy entering exhibits in the Open Class categories. Open Class books have been available at the local banks and feature information about this year’s theme which is “Down on the Farm.”
Prior to entering their exhibits, Lincoln County Open Class exhibitors are to fill out their own exhibit list. List the class, lot number and description as worded in the book. An entry form can also be found online at www.lincolncountysd.org under the departments menu: 4-H/extension
Those entering an open class exhibit will head to the West Quonset, north door on Monday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Another option is open to the “Under 4-H Age” children to exhibit in Kid’s Korner. This project is open to any child in the county or area who is 7 years or younger as of January 1, 2017. A green participation ribbon will be awarded to all exhibitors. Exhibits will be entered Monday, July 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. and released on Thursday, August 3 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The week’s event are open to the public, one of the big nights is Wednesday, August 2nd. That evening events include a 4-H barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m., cost is $4 for a one bun meal. Also that evening is a public fashion revue at 6 p.m. and a talent
