LADC brings in home to sell: Student built home going up on-site

For the Lennox Area Development Corporation (LADC), affordable housing is a priority. The LADC is just finishing construction on a 24 x 24’ two-car garage attached to a brand new Governor’s home. This three bedroom, two bath home is located at 120 E. Center Ave., Lennox. The 1,200 sq. foot house on a 100 x 150’ lot with a full unfinished insulated basement is listed at $169,500.

Brian Zirpel with the LADC explained that the Development corporation is also working with the Lennox High School on a student built home. The home will be located at 305 North Poplar., Lennox and will be a 1,324 sq. foot three bedroom with two baths.

Site work has begun and Paul Kruse, the Lennox School District’s Building Trades Instructor said the students have begun work, setting floor trusses earlier this week. LADC | Page 2

Kruse said they hope to have the house enclosed by the end of the first semester.

There are ten students working on the home, most of them seniors, said Kruse with a couple of juniors.

Kruse said, “We hope the weather cooperates. We got a late start on the house. The foundation was to be ready by Sept. 1st, but they ran in to a snag. There were two telephone lines running in middle of the lot. So they had to wait for Vast to move them.”
