The Lennox School District 41-4 held a special board meeting on Feb. 18th to approve the resignation of Kirk Easton as superintendent effective June 30, 2016.
Easton said, “I have truly enjoyed my time as superintendent in this district. I am honored to have worked with some of the best teachers and administrators in the state, and have cherished my interactions with the students of this district. However, the opportunity to go home to the Black Hills and become the superintendent in Spearfish was difficult to pass on and I did not know when that opportunity would come again.”
He continued, “I would like to thank everyone that welcomed my family and me into the community, and wish nothing but the best for the Lennox School District in the future.”
Board president, Alan Rops said, “We are disappointed because he seemed to be a great fit and was doing a wonderful job in that position but understand it really is his dream job.”
Rops said the superintendent position will be open right away and the school board will see what interest is there.
He added, “If we find someone who is acceptable, we will put together a committee and hire.”
Applications will be accepted through mid-march.
