Orioles kick-off football season with community scrimmage this Saturday

This Saturday, Aug. 22 fans of the Lennox High School football team will get a chance to see the team in action during the Community Scrimmage at the Sinning Sports Complex at 7 p.m. The team will showcase their athletic prowess in a sneak-peak before their regular season begins on Saturday, Aug. 29 in Hot Springs.

This year’s team features a solid number of returning letters winners that have a lot of game time experience.

Returning letter winners include: Seniors Tyler Leisinger, Jacob Lackas, Hunter Kjose, Collin McEntee, John Oldenkamp, Nick Kayl, Jacob Hinker, Hunter Knock, Masen Oltmanns, Derek Severson, Sam Metivier, Trevor Dixon, Lawton Luke, and Juniors Braedon Wallenstein, Brock Stien, Whitley Barr, Logan Barr, Jacob Ziegler, Dylan Braak, and manager Matt Wolf.

“We have an experienced and talented team returning,” said LHS head coach Matt Luze. “If we practice with urgency from the first day of camp and continue it throughout the season I think we will have a great year.”

Coach Luze is in his third year as head coach of the Orioles, compiling a 7-12 record while here. Last season the Orioles went 4-4 during the regular season and 1-1 in playoff action. Assisting Luze will be Dan DeVries, Casey Vietor, Blake Crosby, Mike Smit, and Dustin McLouth.

The team’s first home game will be Friday, Sept. 4 when they take on Tea Area at home in a 7 p.m. game.
