The 2015 debate season, which started the first weekend in November, is about to end with the state debate tournament being held at Harrisburg High School March 6 and 7. The Lennox team has seen a lot of success this year and hopes to close out strong at the state tournament.
This year, Lennox has received first place in the A team sweepstake at four tournaments: Brookings Bell, Watertown Speech Fiesta, Yankton Lewis and Clark and the Harrisburg Rushmore Challenge. Students have been working hard all year to grow and improve. This work has paid off.
The school has also received a very special award that was seventy years in the making. The team received national recognition from the National Speech and Debate Association. This award for excellence is based on competition in the qualifying tournament for Nationals. Lennox High School has offered debate off and on for well over seventy years. The school has been going strong with debate since 2001.
“I am very proud of the work that the students have been putting in for the tournaments. I think we will represent the school with pride at the state tournament,” stated coach Michael Larson. “I am also very proud of the Nationals award. A lot of people have contributed to the this award over the years.”
