The current LWC Middle School (above) will be restructured next year to become the LWC Intermediate School, housing all district grades 5 and 6. District students in grades 7-12 will be at the current high school site, with the new seventh and eighth grade addition at that site well underway. Chancellor and Lennox students JK through 4 will remain in Lennox Elementary and Worthing students K-4 will remain in Worthing Elementary.
The Lennox School District 41-4 Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting Jan. 12th. The Board received a thank you from the band boosters. Superintendent Kirk Easton extended a thank you to the board members for their dedicated service. He said this week was School Board Recognition Week, he directed board members to take note of the Governor’s proclamation that appears in this week’s paper (page 3).
Easton also said the Central Business office will be closed this Friday to allow staff to attend the funeral of Administrative Assistant Julie Heppler’s father, who passed away recently.
Easton said the District is advertising for positions right now: Special Education Director, Transportation Director as well as the two assistant principal positions. He said, “We look at closing the director of transportation this Friday and conducting interviews on Monday. We’ll get that hired ASAP.”
Easton also addressed the recent missed days due to weather, saying that the district would evaluate snow days at the end of March.
He also said the school calendar for next year would be brought to the board in February and would look to be approved in March. One notable change he mentioned was a registration day along with the open houses.
