Lennox School District is gearing up for another school year, with school to start on Aug. 23.
A District-wide Registration Day will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 1 to 8 p.m. for all students—Pre K through 12th grade. The event will be held at the high school. Parents will be able to fill out the required paperwork for their students and pay fees. School pictures will also be taken on this day. Order forms for the pictures are available on the school website or at registration. Only retakes will be taken during the school year. School pictures will not be taken at the elementary school as in the past.
The activities calendar published by The Lennox Independent will also be given to families during registration day; this calendar will be inserted into The Lennox Independent on August 25th.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9 parents of high school students participating in fall sports will have a meeting at 7 p.m. at the high school. A participation form, a physical exam form and the concussion form must all be completed before students can participate in athletic activities. These forms can be found on the school’s website under the Activities tab (http://www.lennox.k12.sd.us).
On Monday, Aug. 21 all of the schools in the district will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Students and parents are encouraged to attend and meet their teachers, see their classrooms, bring supplies and get schedules and locker assignments.
Lennox High School will also be having a Dual Credit Orientation for students and their parents on Aug. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The first day of school in the District will be Aug. 23rd.
Two starting dates for Kindergarten students who attend Lennox Elementary
In an effort to ease the transition for the 2016-17 kindergarten students attending Lennox Elementary, as they learn school procedures and meet their new kindergarten friends, there will be two starting dates for kindergarten students. Students with last names beginning with A-L will attend their first school day on Wednesday, August 23rd. Students attending on Wednesday will not attend on Thursday. Students with last names beginning with M-Z and any students attending the Totally Kids Program, will attend their first school day on Thursday, Aug. 24. All Kindergarten students will attend on Friday, Aug. 25.
At Worthing Elementary — all kindergarten students will start on Wednesday, Aug. 23rd.
