Shirley DeVries and Dixie Shay are pictured above with the quilt on display at the Lenkota Golf Course which will be raffled off during the Good Time Boys Memorial Golf Tournament to be held Aug. 19.
Shirley began the Tournament ten years ago in memory of her late husband, Lee DeVries, who passed away on Aug. 21, 2012. Shirley wanted a way to remember him and a Golf Tournament was brought up as an idea.
This year the Tournament is also in memory of Duane Sygulla, Larry Sitter, and Dixie’s sons: Roger Shay and Dwain Shay.
The Good Time Boys Memorial Tournament will be held Aug. 19 at the Lenkota Golf Course. A 10 a.m. shotgun start will kickoff the 18 hole tournament. It is a 4-person “Las Vegas Scramble” and the cost to participate is $50 per person, which includes mulligans.
There will be pin prizes and a meal is included at the end of the tournament.
All proceeds will go to support the Lennox High School golf program.
The quilt, which Shirley and Dixie began doing three years ago, will be raffled off with the winner announced at the tournament.
Raffle tickets are $5 and can be purchased at anytime at the Lenkota Golf Course. A bucket will be placed by the quilt in the clubhouse.
The quilt, pictured above, was handcrafted by Shirley and showcases a variety of vintage Oriole shirts.
The proceeds from the raffle will also go to support the LHS golf program and the scholarship set up for a LHS senior.
