The Lennox Area Community Fund has extended its grant request deadline.
Non-profits from the Lennox, Chancellor and Worthing areas will be able to fill out an online application for grants from the LACF until August 31. The application process has also moved online.
The grant request deadline has been extended in order to raise more awareness for the fund and, though they used to do physical applications, they wanted to streamline the process for this year and put everything online, said Brian Zirpel, LACF treasurer.
Applications for grants can be found on www.sfacf.org/lennox.
Since it was founded in 2004, the LACF has given out nearly $108,000 in grants to non-profits that serve communities throughout the area.
Last year, the LACF gave over $13,600 in grants to local non-profits including the Worthing and Chancellor fire departments, Lincoln County 4-H, Lennox Area Ambulance and the Lennox Community Library.
They gave $5,000 to the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation to help with construction of their new site north of Lennox on Highway 17. They also gave $1,500 to the Worthing Community Volunteer Fire Department to purchase special flashlights for their helmets, and $1,500 to the Lennox Area Ambulance for the purchase of two lifts.
Recently, the Lennox Community Library discussed a grant request for new items in their child development area.
While there is a time limit people can request a grant, the LACF is open to donations year round. Their biggest fundraising events include the Fire Cracker Road Race on Fourth of July, and their funding drive on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
“The impact we have isn’t a one time thing,” Zirpel said. “The gifts you give are invested in the community forever and, though they might not have an immediate impact, will be felt for generations to come.”
“The more money, the bigger and better things we can do,” Zirpel added.
To qualify for a grant, you must be a non-profit organization local to the Lennox area and have proof of non-profit status. If you are wondering whether or not you qualify, or if you’d like to find out how you can help the LACF, you can reach out to Zirpel at 605-647-2228.
