The Lennox city swimming pool is taking shape.
Lennox residents supported a bond for a new swimming pool in October 2018 in the amount of $1.7 million, as bid by Carrothers Construction Company of Paola, Kansas. The project includes a zero-depth entry pool and bath house. Construction is expected to be completed in October.
Utilities Superintendent Jeremy Gulbranson said that if weather holds, the city will fill the pool and do a start up and shut down before winter. If the weather isn’t cooperative, that will take place next spring.
Gulbranson said construction on the pool has been going smoothly despite the rain.
“I’m amazed at how quickly they got rid of water when it did rain,” he said.
Concrete has been poured for several of the mechanical structures, and some of the pool walls. The floor of the bathhouse has been poured and workers were working on the stone walls of the bath house on Friday. The electrical work has also begun.
The Lennox Pool Committee continues to seek additional donations for new pool amenities, such as slides, benches and lifeguard equipment.
