Worthing Days this weekend

This weekend the community of Worthing invites you attend their annual community celebration —Worthing Days. The  event kicks off Friday evening, August 25 with a supper served at the Worthing Civic Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Serving the meal will be the 4-H Dakota Lassies and Ranchers. Also that evening car enthusiasts are invited to come and cruise Main Street for the Cruise Night set to begin at 6 p.m.

The Masonic Lodge will also be serving root beer floats that evening. There will be a bean bag tournament at 6 p.m. on Main Street with the cost of $20 per team and a 50/50 pay out benefiting Honor Flight. Also that evening, there will be a children’s movie night at the Civic Center at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, August 26, the day’s events begin with a 5K run at 8 a.m., registration is at 7:30 a.m., proceeds go to Honor Flight. At 9 a.m. a Volleyball Tournament will take place at the Rec Complex. Parade entries can also begin line-up at 9 a.m. at Beck St. and Louise Ave. The SF Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be set up at the school from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

At 10 a.m. a Disc Golf Tournament will take place with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Disc Golf Course is located on the south edge of town.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m., the route will be First Street to Main Street. The fun will continue Saturday afternoon with kids’ inflatables and a dunk tank at the Worthing Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 admission; one of the inflatables is a wet slide.

The Masonic Lodge will also be serving lunch at the Elementary School and Rec Complex from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The kids bike poker rodeo will take place at Worthing Elementary School at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m. the community is invited to play Bingo at the Civic Center. 

To close out the evening, the Worthing Community Fire Department  is sponsoring a Street Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight, featuring the band, “Driven”. Tickets are $10.

Sunday, August 27 there will be a 10 a.m. Worship Service at 3rd St. Park with Delaware Reformed Church. Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair
