Table Top Cafe brings new flavor to town

The smell of good food greets you at the door when you step inside the Table Top Cafe. Randy Glasco, owner, says with a smile, “we want to be known for our food.”

Glasco is excited to have recently opened the restaurant here in Lennox, located at the south end of Main Street right off of Hwy. 44. One reason for his excitement is working with Tremaine Bell, who Glasco describes as a “Rockstar Chef.”

Bell is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota where he discovered his talent for cooking when he was 14. It was at that age he shadowed at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and as he recalls it, he outshined every student there.

Bell’s passion for cooking is evident when he talks about how his career began. He said, “For me, it’s about knowing I make people happy based on a meal.”

He most recently worked with Janet Eining at Beef O’Bradys, and has been cooking in a restaurant since the age of 19.

Bell dabbles in a lot of different cuisines but his favorite dish to make is pasta. He said, “It’s simple and fun, there are so many directions you can go with sauce and meat options.”

Pasta will be just one of the options offered at the Table Top Cafe. Glasco said they will offer burgers, a nice short order menu, and smoked beef and pork. He said, “We’ll have our pulled pork every day at lunch.”

Although previous cafes at this location have been known for the ice-cream, which Glasco says he plans to bring in at a later date; he reiterates it’s the great food that people will want to stop for.

“People can come here for a home cooked meal and friendly people,” he said.

Glasco has been offering concessions out at the Goeman Auction Pavilion for the past several months, and plans to continue that. He finds it a good fit with the restaurant.

Glasco is looking forward to getting to know the community. He said, “I don’t want to compete with anyone, I want to be part of the community. I want to get to know people.”

The Table Top Cafe is open every day 7 a.m. to evening dinner. Patrons can call ahead or place an order to go by calling 605-647-1305.
