Les Noonan resigns from City Council

On Monday night, the Lennox City Council accepted the resignation of Les Noonan, Ward II alderman.

Mayor Orville Wiebers said that Noonan cited family matters as the reason for his resignation, effective Nov. 10. Noonan was appointed to the council last May, replacing out-going councilman Russ Nelson.

Wiebers said that he will be making another appointment from Ward II and is putting together a list of possible candidates.

Much of Monday night’s meeting was spent reviewing City employees.

In other business:

• Easement agreements with the SD Department of Transportation were approved.

• Michael Anderson made an offer to give up his half of the street known as Windsong Pl, located south of the Lennox Elementary School. That street is currently a private drive. After discussing the matter, the council decided not to take ownership of the street, as they saw no benefit to the City and it does not currently meet City standards.

• A pay request from First Rate, with a 5% retention for work not completed was denied. The council will consider a pay request with a 10% retention at their next meeting. The contractor will soon be suspending work for the winter and will start again next spring.
