Lennox was definitely the place to be this July 4th weekend. Lennox hosted a wonderful weekend beginning with cruise night on Friday, that brought in bumper to bumper traffic on Main and hundreds of spectators. About 1500 people enjoyed the street dance that night featuring Dustin Evans and the Good Times Band and Judd Hoos. Money raised will be donated to the Swimming Pool fund, with the amount to be announced soon.
Saturday morning’s Firecracker Road Race saw over 325 runners compete. The parade followed, and the crowds were larger than ever, with an estimate of 12,500 people in attendance. After the parade the crowd descended on the park and enjoyed food, music, games, helicopter rides, a car show and visits with family and friends.
As evening neared, there was a BBQ and the Lennox Municipal Band Concert. The evening climaxed with a wonderful fireworks display.
On Sunday, community members worshiped together and held a catered picnic in the park. That afternoon area firemen enjoyed a water fight, showing off their skills with a fire hose.
The Lennox Commercial Club would like to thank all of those who contributed to making this one of the best weekends of the year!
