Lennox Junior High Students selected for All-State Band

Four eighth grade students from Lennox Junior High School have been selected for the South Dakota Middle School All-State Band and the South Dakota Middle School All-State Jazz Band. To be chosen for an all-state group is a great achievement, as it is a highly competitive auditioning process.

Over 400 students from across the state auditioned for the 20th Annual South Dakota Middle School All-State Band. Auditioning required students to record several scales and etudes. Jesse Cech, Nate Collette, Ethan Rops, and Kaleb VanRuler were selected for the event. The concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, in Huron, SD.

These same four students auditioned and were selected for the Middle School All-State Jazz Band. They also traveled to Mitchell, SD this past weekend to rehearse and perform a concert on February 2, 2019.

Ticket information for All-State Band and All-State Jazz Band can be found on the SMDEA website.

Ellie Kenkel is the 6-8 Instrumental Music instructor for the Lennox School District.
