FFA Pancake Feed rescheduled to next Saturday, March 4

The FFA Pancake Feed originally scheduled for this Saturday has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 4 due to the impending winter weather.

The Lennox Sundstrom FFA Chapter and Ag-Ed Program are undertaking a new venture and need your support. The annual FFA benefit pancake feed will be held to support the Agriscience Learning Lab on Saturday, March 4th.

Readers may recall a recent Lennox Independent article that outlined this first of its kind Learning Lab in South Dakota. Agriculture Educator Jim Wilson said the Seniors in this year’s FFA Chapter inspired the idea.

The program has applied for, and received, a state matching grant to build an Agriscience Learning Lab. This summer, site preparation and construction will begin on an animal science facility, high tunnel greenhouse, garden plots, landscape construction area and soils science area to be located on the southwest side of Lennox High School’s property.

The FFA is committed to raising as much of the match ($40,000+) as possible and invite the community to help support this educational opportunity.

March 4th's Pancake Feed will be held in the intermediate school cafetorium, doors will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is the thirteenth annual benefit pancake feed, which began as a way for the chapter to show support for Rodney Hammerstrom after he was injured in a horse accident. The chapter has raised over $60,000 for various causes over those years.

Another fund-raising effort to support the Agriscience Learning Lab is through the sales of FFA Supporter t-shirts and sweatshirts. This is a great option for alumni and family members from out of the area to be a part of the project. Shirts can be ordered online at https://stores.inksoft.com/supportlsffa. Orders must be placed by March 31, 2017. Cost ranges from $50 to $60 for the shirts.

Wilson said the FFA Chapter and Ag-Ed Program will also be reaching out to businesses and community members for sponsorships. Interested parties are encouraged to speak with Wilson about the opportunities to support the project.
